The History of SamCol by Hicks

SamCol by Hicks was born from love, legacy, and a deep commitment to culture. Named after my two children, Sammie and Colby, this brand represents everything I hope they grow up knowing—that they come from brilliance, beauty, and power.

As an educator, creative, and proud Black woman, I created SamCol to reflect what I wasn’t seeing enough of: pins, products, and visuals that honor the fullness of Black life, especially through the lens of Black Los Angeles Culture, Southern Black culture, Hoodoo traditions, and everyday joy. This brand is personal—it carries the spirit of my ancestors, the stories of my community, and the dreams I hold for the next generation.

Each piece is designed with intention, celebrating everything from Black educators and mental health to iconic moments in Black pop culture. SamCol by Hicks doesn’t just make products—it tells stories, sparks conversations, and affirms identity.

Whether you wear one of our pins or gift them to someone you love, know this: SamCol was created with care, crafted with culture, and rooted in legacy.
